Tier Breakdown

The Astrobuilders build tutorials are broken into different tier levels based on desired material, functionality, and, most importantly, budget.

3D Printed Series

Composite Series

The 3D Printed Droid series is covered in the Padawan and Jedi tier levels. The 3D printed droid series is the most budget friendly option, especially for users already familiar with 3D printing.

The series utilizes the plans created by Michael Baddeley. Mr. Baddeley has amazing files for many great droid variations. Please visit him on his Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/mrbaddeley/

The skills learned in the 3D printed series for an R2 series droid, will prepare you to create the other designs from Mr. Baddelly.

The Composite Droid series is covered in the Knight and Master levels. The Composite series covers a droid built from styrene and aluminum. This series is a mid-budget option to build the most impressive droid for the minimal cost.

The composite droid will consist mostly of a styrene frame, legs, and foot shells with aluminum body skins, dome, feet, and key detail pieces.

The composite droid's materials are chosen to optimize cost, reliability, and asthetics.

Foundling Level

PREORDERS OPEN SOON

Foundling is the first step into this larger world! The Foundling tier is a way to experience Astrobuilders with no risk.

Foundling is free to access and comes with access to the Astrobuilders discord server to join our community and experience what our platform is like.

Foundling also comes with free tutorials to teach the foundational skills to building a droid, the basic logistics on how to build a droid, as well as the first tutorial video for the 3D printed dome series to experience what the process is really like.

For the free price of the tier, you'll also gain access to a tier quiz to help place you in the right spot, a droid color customizer to visualize your dream droid, a part guide to familiarize yourself with an Astromech, along with more bonus videos on optimizing your build and maintaining your droids!

Padawan

COMING SOON

Padawan is the first step in the 3D printed R2-D2 series, followed by the Jedi tier. Padawan contains tutorials to complete the head/dome of the droid.

Padawan acts as an introduction to droid building and is low risk if you don't wish to proceed with a whole droid.

The dome created in this level will be an R2 series dome, but other designs are available from Mr. Baddeley. The dome will have static panels with full lighting. With optional upgrades for moving panels and gadgets.

For $49 you'll gain access to Padawan, along with the Foundling bonus material, vendor discounts, dome wiring diagrams, part checklists, print timesheets, and more!

Jedi Level

While the Padawan level contains only the dome, the Jedi level is the first level dealing with the whole droid.

A droid from the Jedi tier will result in a droid that is equipped with full lights, sounds, dome rotation, and drivability.

The droid will be printed using PETG and ABS filaments. These materials are chosen mainly for their temperature resistance. A PLA material can be used, but will be more susceptible to heat warping.

For $149 you'll gain access to Jedi, along with the Foundling bonus materials, vendor discounts, wiring diagrams, part checklists, printing timesheets, and more!
